Victor Wanyama is to turn down overtures from England to remain with Celtic for the rest of the season.

The Nigerian international has been the subject of interest from the likes of Arsenal and Manchester United on the back of a series of match-winning performances.

But the 21-year-old has quashed rumours of a move south by signalling his intention to remain at Parkhead ahead of a last-16 Champions League double-header with Juventus and a potential league and Scottish Cup double.

“I can confirm to you that I will be at Celtic. We are playing well and our Champions League dream is on and right now I am looking forward to the big game against Juventus.

“A lot has been said and written about my intended move but I have not given it much thought and even my manager feels I should play until the end of the season for Celtic then from that point the doors can be open for a move.”

Although Lennon has publicly quoted a fee of £25 million for the midfielder, a more realistic market value of £10 million is expected to be sufficient to prise one of Celtic’s prize assets away from Glasgow.
