Shiels talks up Inverness
Kilmarnock manager Kenny Shiels has labelled Inverness strong favourites ahead of their SPL game at the weekend.
Both teams head into the clash at Rugby Park bolstered by impressive wins over the Old Firm. Kimarnock ended a 57-year wait for victory at Celtic Park last weekend, while Inverness eliminated Rangers in the quarter-finals of the Scottish Communities League Cup on Wednesday night.
Shiels said: “Inverness are strong favourites because of their current form. They’ve scored the most goals in the league, they are the top dogs. We have to look to restrict them and, if we can put on a good defensive performance, I’m sure we will do well.”
Inverness are now unbeaten in eight games and have netted in every single match so far this season. But Shiels wants to see his side build on the 2-0 win over the Scottish champions.
He added: “The players know they’ve created history and that’s good. But that’s gone, that’s literally history now. We are going from playing the best team in Scotland to playing the best team on form in Scotland.”
