KILMARNOCK have won their appeal over goalkeeper Cammy Bell’s red card against Inverness.

The Scottish Football Association confirmed a fast track tribunal had upheld a claim for wrongful dismissal after Bell was sent off for denying an obvious goalscoring opportunity.

The Scotland international will now be able to face Ross County in Saturday’s Clydesdale Bank Premier League encounter at Rugby Park.

Bell was sent off by referee Euan Norris after Caley Thistle midfielder Ross Draper went down in the box having tried to go round the goalkeeper.

Billy McKay converted the penalty as Inverness secured a 2-1 SPL win.

Speaking just before the Hampden hearing, manager Kenny Shiels said: “It’s more or less a certainty that we’ll win the appeal because the footage we have sent in is evident that there is no contact, and the player kicks out with his leg against my goalkeeper. It’s an act of simulation.”

Meanwhile, Shiels said he had not taken his post-match complaint against Norris any further.

Immediately after the game, Shiels accused the referee of making a “sarcastic comment” towards him but was keen to let the matter lie today.
