JOHN BROWN says he has no regrets over publicly issuing a challenge to Charles Green as the Rangers chief executive’s takeover bid was given the green light last summer.

And Brown insists that the jury is still out on Green as Rangers look to battle their way back up to the top tier of Scottish football.

The former Rangers player became interim manager of SPL strugglers Dundee on Monday, and will see his new side face St Johnstone in his first match in charge.

Speaking in the wake of the game, Brown said that he spoke out against Green because he had concerns over the direction that the club was taking with the former Sheffield United chief at the helm.

Brown, who left his job at Ibrox as chief scout in the summer in the wake of Green’s takeover bid, stood on the stadium steps and addressed Rangers fans in attendance as he questioned the then-prospective executive’s plans for the club’s assets.

Brown had even assembled his own consortium, which tabled two failed bids for the club.

“I have no regrets over what I did.”

“Rangers is a club I hold close to my heart and I made a stance because I wasn’t convinced what was happening was in the best of interests of the club.

“Charles Green came into the club and he didn’t make his plans clear.”

Brown added: “He has made progress but in my eyes Mr Green has still got a lot to prove to all the fans.”
