Fans’ backing for new man

HEARTS fans have pledged their support to new manager John McGlynn.

Steve Kilgour, general secretary of the Federation of Hearts Supporters’ Clubs, insists the Hearts faithful will get behind the 50-year-old, despite disappointment at the departure of Scottish Cup hero Paulo Sergio. Kilgour said: “We’ll back anybody that comes in and does their best to make Hearts a success. The club is going down the youth route and John has a lot of experience working with young players. He’ll also know a few of the guys from working with them at Raith last season and he knows the club from being there for a long time before.

“Thanks have to go to Paulo Sergio for last season but we move on and next season will be different again, but I’m not too disheartened by the squad being weakened by players leaving because other clubs will be in the same boat.”

Hearts are open to accusations of taking the cheap option but Kilgour added: “If they have saved money in appointing John McGlynn, hopefully it will be re-invested in the playing squad.”
