Celtic’s Dylan McGeouch on recovery trail after breaking jaw
CELTIC midfielder Dylan McGeouch is set to return to training next week following his broken jaw.
McGeouch had a plate inserted in his jaw after being knocked unconscious by an aerial challenge from Real Madrid midfielder Nuri Sahin in the Philadelphia friendly on August 11.
McGeouch said: “Being out for a few weeks has been frustrating as everything has been fine with my legs but it’s been a waiting game with my jaw, so hopefully I can get back into training and push on and get back into the squad as soon as possible and see how it goes. I have just been trying to get myself as fit as possible, so when I’m back in training, I haven’t lost much.
The incident prompted a worried Neil Lennon to come on to the pitch as McGeouch was given treatment and then carried off on a stretcher wearing a neck brace.
The 19-year-old was shielded from the genuine concern everyone else had at the time, given he was unconscious, and he admits he watched the footage on television out of curiosity.
“I watched it a few times and cringed at it a wee bit, but it looks a lot worse than it actually was.
