Boost for Aberdeen as Rob Milsom nears return

Aberdeen midfielder Rob Milsom is on the verge of a first-team return and a first appearance of the season, manager Craig Brown has confirmed.

The 25-year-old former Fulham midfielder has been absent with a knee injury but Brown told RedTV: “The good news is that Rob Milsom, if he doesn’t get any swelling on his knee between now and next week, will go straight into full training next week so that will be a big boost.”

Midfielder Isaac Osbourne and defender Gary Naysmith are also nearing returns but striker Rory Fallon will see a specialist to determine the full extent of a stomach problem.

Brown added: “Rory Fallon is going to see a specialist this week to take a look at the troublesome muscle in his lower stomach.

“We expect Isaac Osbourne to be back training with the squad tomorrow. Gary Naysmith is targeting his return following the next international break in October.”

Brown is relishing this weekend’s clash with Clydesdale Bank Premier League leaders Motherwell, the side he left to move to Pittodrie in December 2010.

He added: “Motherwell are a good side, they’re top of league and great credit to Stuart McCall. He’s done a fantastic job there with little money but they’re
flying at the moment.

“It’s going to be a good test at the weekend but it’s one that we look forward too, especially as it’s Motherwell.”
