Aberdeen defender Andrew Considine is adamant it is only a matter of time before his side goes on a scoring spree.

The Dons are yet to hit the net this season after following up last weekend’s 1-0 defeat by Celtic with a goalless draw against newly-promoted Ross County.

However, Considine says Aberdeen now have plenty of creativity in the squad thanks to new signings Jonny Hayes and Niall McGinn, with youngster Ryan Fraser waiting in the wings.

He said: “There will be a day when it all clicks and hopefully it is sooner rather than later because we want to try to get a couple of wins at the start of the season to get us up at the top of the league. If we struggle to get a result at the start, then it can become a mountain to climb.

“Niall and Jonny have come in and they have done really well. They can really scare defences with their direct approach. I thought when Ryan Fraser came on he really lifted the crowd and he was due his chance as he was brilliant in pre-season.”

An impressive crowd of 14,010 packed into Pittodrie and Considine admitted he was disappointed his side were unable to give the fans more to cheer about on a day which was billed as “Sellout Saturday”. He added: “The support we got last year was great and the away support is absolutely fantastic.

“Against Ross County the support was unbelievable and all the boys appreciated it. I just wish we had got the three points because if we get good results it brings them back. Hopefully they can stick by us and we can get the results that they deserve.”

Ross County skipper Richard Brittain felt his side merited something after another battling performance. The Staggies maintained their 36-game unbeaten league run with a second successive goalless draw following a similar stalemate against Motherwell last weekend.

Brittain said: “We have shown in the last two games that we work very hard and we are a difficult side to break down. We have managed two clean sheets against two very good sides, one which was playing in the Champions League and one that will be there or thereabouts at the top come the end of the season. We have got to take great credit from that. We will work hard and bring our own style of football to the SPL, as we have shown in the past two games. It is two games down and 36 to go, so we’ll keep up the hard work and see where it takes us.”

The midfielder admitted he could have given his side all three points in the closing stages but for a good stop by Aberdeen goalkeeper Jamie Langfield. Brittain added: “It was a really good move from the boys and I just tried to get it on target. I managed to get good contact but the ’keeper managed to get a foot to it and get it away.

“But we can’t be too disappointed as it’s another point on the board for us. We created chances and defended well when we had to. We can take great confidence from that.”
