Celtic are bracing themselves for renewed interest in defender Virgil Van Dijk after Sevilla agreed to sell defender Federico Fazio to Tottenham Hotspur.

The Spanish team are now said to be looking for a direct replacement and could renew their interest in the Celtic star after negotiations stalled over a transfer fee for main target Juventus and Italy stopper Angelo Ogbanno.

Van Dijk has been on Sevilla’s radar this summer since impressing for Celtic following his move from Gronigen.

Arsenal, Southampton and Newcastle are also said to be interested in the 29-year-old however should Celtic defeat Maribor in their Champions League qualifier tonight, there will be no need for Deila to sell any of his players unless Celtic receive a substantial offer.
