HEARTS have issued a rallying call to supporters urging them to buy season tickets with the promise that all money will be re-invested in the team.

More than 6500 fans have renewed their seats at Tynecastle ahead of the new campaign and director Sergejus Fedotovas is now canvassing those who have yet to sign up. In a letter due to arrive on supporters’ doorsteps today, Fedotovas states Hearts will “invest your money in attracting the best footballing talent available to us”. The
Edinburgh club sold around 9000 season tickets last
summer and aim to equal or better that total this year.

Hearts’ finances remain precarious and extra funding will be required to meet costs next season, therefore Fedotovas has taken the step of contacting fans asking them to back the club.

In the letter, he states: “We will continue to be resolute in our aim of attracting the best young players in the country but we also know that there needs to be a blend of youth and experience. For this reason we have already started speaking to players who want to play for Heart of Midlothian Football Club, play a positive part in this club’s great history and nurture our young players.

“We must, however, do this in a prudent way and preserve the football club for generations to come. We’d like to ask for your continued support in helping us to attract the best players to the club in order to regain our position as domestic trophy winners and qualifiers for

European competitions.

“The best way you can do this is by purchasing a season ticket. This is the one single most important action that you as a supporter of the club can take.”

Hearts signed Danny Wilson on a three-year contract earlier this week and are hopeful of attracting more new faces over the summer. Fedotovas’s letter continues: “At the time of writing we have secured just over 6500 season tickets sales, which is very encouraging. However, we would like to get close to matching this season’s total, which will allow us to do much more in the forthcoming transfer market to meet our goals for next season.

“By the time you receive this letter we will have embarked on refreshing the squad. This will naturally require signing new players and this task will be greatly helped by you investing in a season ticket for the new season now.

“The board is well aware of the difficult circumstances some people find themselves in and we are not asking anyone to overstretch themselves. We are asking, however, that if you can afford to do so then back the club by purchasing your new season ticket. In return we’ll promise to invest your money in attracting the best footballing talent available to us here at Tynecastle.”

Meanwhile, player departures are continuing, with Arvydas Novikovas is the latest squad member to leave Hearts after his contract expired. Darren Barr, Danny Grainger, Mehdi Taouil, Gordon Smith, Fraser Mullen and Denis Prychynenko have all been released from last season’s squad.
