ST Johnstone, who recorded a famous win over Norwegian side Rosenborg in last year’s Europa League have been handed a tie with Swiss side Luzern.

‘Die Leuchten’ finished fourth in the Swiss Super League last season, and have made eight appearances in European competition since the early Sixties.

In the 2012/13 Europa League, they were edged out by Belgian side KRC Genk 3-2 on aggregate during the Play-off round, and were knocked out in the Third Qualifying Round of the same competition in the 2010/11 season by FC Utrecht, who recorded a 4-1 aggregate win.

The Saints, who saw off Rosenborg courtesy of a 1-0 win in Trondheim and a 1-1 draw in Perth, were cruelly knocked out on penalties in the Third Qualifying Round by Belarussians Minsk.

In the 1999/00 UEFA Cup, the Saints defeated VPS of Finland 3-1 on aggregate, before going down 6-3 to AS Monaco of France, despite a valiant effort in the return leg at McDiarmid Park.
