HAMILTON player/boss Alex Neil has agreed a new deal with the club - as well as landing his first two summer signings.

The Scottish Premiership new boys have handed their 33-year-old manager a new rolling one-year contract after leading them to promotion through the play-offs in his first season in charge.

And he has also bagged goalkeeper Michael McGovern on free transfer from Falkirk and Clyde midfielder Kieran MacDonald.

However, McGovern’s arrival signals the end of Kevin Cuthbert’s spell at the club.

The former St Johnstone keeper made two crucial saves in the penalty shoot-out that confirmed the New Douglas Park side’s play-off final win over Hibernian but he has now been freed.

Former club Neil captain replaced Billy Reid last summer but saw his side finish second in the Championship behind title winners Dundee.

However, Accies clinched a return to the top flight after three years away by beating Falkirk and Hibs in the end-of-season play-offs.

McGovern has penned a one-year deal after switching from the Bairns. The 29-year-old started his career with Celtic before moving to Ross County, where he won a Scottish Cup runners-up medal in 2010.

Former Motherwell youngster MacDonald, 20, has made over 40 appearances from the Bully Wee after joining in 2012.

Hamilton also hope to announce a third new arrival later this week.
