SECOND Division champions Queen of the South head to Ochilview to face Stenhousemuir tonight boosted by news that their management team of Allan Johnston and his assistant Sandy Clark have signed one-year contract extensions.
Johnston said: “We have been discussing this for a while but things were on hold as we went for the league and the Ramsdens Cup. With them both won we got back to discussions and have now got things sorted.”
Stenhousemuir’s injury jinx struck again at the weekend and defender Scott Buist is missing after injuring a knee in the 2-1 win over East Fife. Brown Ferguson, Kevin McKinlay and Stewart Kean are also missing with youngster Salim Kouider-Aissa struggling with a foot injury.
Brechin City host Albion Rovers in the first of two meetings in four days between the sides that could well determine their season. One win or two draws for the Glebe Park side and they will have clinched a play-off spot whereas two wins for Brechin will relegate the Coatbridge side.
Alan Trouten returns for Brechin after a one game ban, but Ewan Moyes, Derek Carcary, Gareth Rodger and Craig Molloy remain out and Graham Hay is struggling after picking up a knock on Saturday.
The Coatbridge side miss banned full backs Alan Reid and Barry Russell as well as the injured Mick O’Byrne and Tony Stevenson with Pat Walker and Steven Howarth both facing fitness tests.
