BILEL Mohsni incurred the wrath of manager Ally McCoist after the Rangers defender was sent off for a headbutt in Saturday’s 2-0 defeat at Derby County.

The Tunisian appeared to dive head-first into Scotland striker Chris Martin, who had already scored a double for the Rams. “Bilel let himself and the team down and he knows that,” said McCoist.

“I didn’t see it at the time because it was such a late reaction but I’ve seen it back since and it was unacceptable. There are no excuses for it.

“We’ve had a chat without going overboard and he’s going to have to learn his lesson because it was very disappointing. I’m not sure if or when he will be suspended but straight away it’s given us a headache we could have done without.”

Mohsni wasn’t the only Old Firm player sent off at the weekend, with Efe Ambrose, who was dismissed in the Champions League defeat by Legia Warsaw last Wednesday, shown a late red card as a youthful Celtic team lost 6-1 to Tottenham Hotspur in Helsinki.

Partick Thistle goalkeeper Scott Fox boosted his chances of reclaiming the No 1 jersey from Paul Gallacher with an excellent display in his side’s goalless draw at English League One side Fleetwood. “The manager’s been rotating us in pre-season and it was my turn to play against Fleetwood and I performed as well as I could so it’s up to the manager now to decide between me and Gall.”

Dundee United defender Sean Dillon is facing six weeks out after suffering a broken cheekbone in his side’s 2-0 defeat away to Leeds United.

Kilmarnock’s summer signings Josh Magennis and Tope Obadeyi were on target in their 2-2 draw at Morecambe, while Gary Warren netted for Inverness in their 3-1 loss away to Birmingham City.
