Fox wary of free-scoring Cowdenbeath

  • by CALUM LESLIE

LIAM FOX reckons the visit of Cowdenbeath tomorrow will be as tough a test as Livingston have faced this season.

The club captain missed last week’s defeat at home to Dumbarton – the first on home soil since September last year – with a hamstring pull, but expects to be fit again this weekend.

And after ex-Hibs player Ian Murray’s side saw off Livi last week, former Hearts midfielder Colin Cameron brings his Cowdenbeath team to West Lothian on the back of 4-1 and 4-2 wins over Falkirk and Dunfermline respectively.

Fox knows that they will make it tough for the Lions. He said: “Cowdenbeath will be high on confidence. I was at their game on Tuesday night against Dunfermline and they thoroughly deserved their victory. That’s eight goals they’ve scored against two teams in the top half of the table, so I don’t need to say any more about how difficult it will be this weekend.

“Obviously it was a disappointing result last week and from a personal point of view it was disappointing not to play.

“I’d had a problem with my hamstring from the week
before and I probably could have pushed it, but it was
one of these things where I
might have ended up missing five or six weeks instead of just one.

“We’re just looking ahead now. Last week’s game is gone and there’s nothing we can do about it now.”

The meetings between
Livingston and Cowdenbeath this season have both ended 1-1, and despite this match looking like another close encounter, Fox is adamant there are positives to take into the game from the loss to the Sons six days ago.

He added: “When you miss a game you’re always hoping that the boys get a very good performance and a good result. Unfortunately we didn’t get a good result.

“To be fair to the guys, I don’t think we were poor – we still had chances, opportunities and a lot of the ball.

“But I’ve got to credit
Dumbarton. I thought they were excellent.

“They’ve got a game plan, they stuck to it and they came out victorious.

“We’ve looked back, we’ve watched the video and looked at certain aspects of the
performance. That means things we did well in the game as well.”
