Hamilton boss Alex Neil has landed his third summer signing after securing Danny Redmond on a free transfer.
The midfielder spent the second half of 2012 on loan with Accies, scoring five goals in 19 games.
The 23-year-old has now returned to New Douglas Park after agreeing a two-year deal.
The former Everton youngster featured just once for Wigan last term in a 5-0 Capital One Cup thrashing away to Manchester City.
He then spent three months with Carlisle before being released by Latics boss Uwe Rosler.
Neil has already snapped up goalkeeper Michael McGovern from Falkirk and Clyde youngster Kieran MacDonald.
