Brown lands East Fife job

FORMER Hearts and Hibs
assistant Billy Brown returned to football last night after being appointed manager of Second Division East Fife.

The 61-year-old takes the reins from Gordon Durie, who had to step down due to a mystery virus which first came to light when he passed out in the dressing-room after a match in August.

Brown has been out of work since the summer after being told he wasn’t having his contract renewed at Easter Road, where he had a brief spell as caretaker manager. The Bayview job will be Brown’s first permanent manager’s job after forging a successful career as a No 2, mostly to Jim Jefferies. He takes over an East Fife side joint
bottom of the Second Division.

A statement from the club said: “The Board was unanimous in making the appointment and we look forward to a period of stability and progress for the club. We hope as many fans as possible will come along to our next home league game against Alloa to welcome Billy.”
