Second Division: Brown aims for fourth win in a row
EAST Fife’s rise up the Second Division under new manager Billy Brown could take them into a play-off place if they defeat Stranraer and record their fourth win in a row since he took over.
East Fife came from two goals behind to win 3-2 at Ayr on Saturday, but Brown said: “Whilst it was good to win again we played poorly in the first half and Ayr could have been more than two ahead.
“If we are to keep on winning we cannot give teams two goals of a start.”
Collin Samuel and Robert Sloan could both start after their substitute appearances helped turn the game at Somerset Park around, but East Fife are again without the injured Michael Brown, Darren McCormack, Paul McManus and Gareth Wardlaw. Stranraer have been boosted by Saturday’s 3-2 success over Alloa that lifted them off the foot of the table for the first time since September.
Albion Rovers manager Todd Lumsden wants no more hard luck stories when Forfar visit Cliftonhill tonight. Rovers fell to the foot of the table on Saturday when they lost 1-0 to Stenhousemuir due to an error by goalkeeper Matt McGinley.
Lumsden said: “I am fed up with not picking up enough points when there is nothing between the sides.
“We should have taken something from Ochilview, we should have beaten Stranraer and we should have taken something from Brechin so it is time to stop coming up just short and winning games.”
Third-placed Forfar welcome back defender Mark McCulloch from suspension, buy are again without goalkeeper Derek Soutar, Odmar Faeroe and Keith Gibson through injury.
