FANS of the present day incarnation of Rangers are likely to go misty eyed at the memory of this great Dane turning on the style for the Ibrox club.

Among the greatest players to pull on the blue jersey, Laudrup was one of the most successful foreign imports to the Scottish game and was a key member of the Rangers side which ultimately racked up nine titles in a row.

An elegant winger/attacking midfielder, Laudrup – brother of current Swansea boss Michael – won two Danish titles with his first club Brondby before spells with Bayer Uerdingen, Bayern Munich, Fiorentina and AC Milan yielded a Champions League winners’ medal before he moved to Rangers in 1994. Four hugely successful years later he spent an injury-hit spell with Chelsea before moving to FC Copenhagen and Ajax.

On the international front, he was a member of the celebrated Denmark side wich won the 1992 European Championship in Sweden.
