Shire leapfrog Clyde as Albion stun Annan

EAST Stirling leapt over Clyde and into eighth place in the Third Division with a 3-0 win at Ochilview.

The opening goal came in fine style on 18 minutes when Michael Herd took the ball for a walk along the 18-yard box before crashing a left-foot shot home.

Jamie Glasgow swept a chance behind at the start of the second half and team-mate Paul Quinn then fluffed his lines before the visiting Kieran McGachie sent a great effort wide.

Shire grabbed their second 11 minutes into the resumption when Quinn blasted home a penalty after he had been upended by Barclay.

It was 3-0 on 63 minutes when Andy Stirling worked his way to the edge of the visiting box and curled home a precise shot low into the corner.

Stirling Albion remain at the foot of the table, however they have closed the gap on the Bully Wee after coming from behind to defeat visitors Annan Athletic 2-1.

An early Phil Johnston effort warmed the hands of visiting Alex Mitchell, however it was the Galabank men edging themselves in front with a quarter of an hour played. Scott Chaplain was the goalscorer when he took advantage of a mix up in the home defence to poke the ball home from close range.

The lead only lasted six minutes with Graham Weir levelling after Mitchell had pushed away a drive from Alex Cunningham.

Jordan White turned the game around six minutes into the second half when he controlled a Gary Thom cross and turned away from his marker to shoot home.
