Rangers owner Charles Green has restated his commitment to the club, saying that he will stay with the team until they are back in Europe.
Green said: “I don’t know when, or even how, it happened but this club has come to be something much more than a business opportunity.
“My intention was to come in to the club, get the funding in place, make sure Rangers’ fuiture was secured then leave.
“That was my job but now I’m staying until I hear the Champions League anthem blaring out onece again across Ibrox. That’s what the fans and the people here should be given and if that can be delivered maybe I’ll feel my job is complete.”
Green, the former chief executive at Sheffield United, added that he is focussing on rebuilding the Ibrox side with European football in mind.
He said: “Playing in the Champions League is the pinnacle and with the correct structures in place there is every reason to believe Rangers can return to that arena. We have plans to move this club forward and I know we, with the fans can make it great again.”
