Rangers chief executive dismisses sale and leaseback of Ibrox plan
The hearing into the use of EBTs at Rangers will be delayed
RANGERS chief executive Charles Green has dismissed claims the club plans to sell and leaseback Ibrox and its other major assets as “rubbish”.
A report on Celtic fan website celticquicknews.com said that the site had obtained a document outlining an offer to the current owners for the sale and leaseback of Ibrox, Murray Park and the Albion Car Park.
The article outlines a proposal which would see the club’s assets sold to an unnamed party for just over £7m with the current owners then renting them back with a loan of £6.5m also included in the deal.
Rangers chief executive Green said the report was an attempt to derail the club’s flotation on the AIM London Stock Exchange at the start of next year.
He said: “I’m running the club, I’m the one making the decisions and I’m going to protect the club with my life , “ he said.
“Nobody’s going to abuse or say rubbish that I’m going to sell the ground. Absolute nonsense
“The blog I’ve seen said we’re going to enter into a sale and leaseback for £8.5m You can shove the offer where the sun don’t shine.
“We’ve got a valuation in the share prospectus in excess of £80m.
“I might be Green, but I’m not a cabbage.
“It’s just rubbish put out by people trying to disrupt the IPO (share issue).
