In this episode: Scotland secure a much-needed friendly win over Australia but how optimistic can we be about the upcoming World Cup qualifiers? Has Craig Levein done enough to silence the doubters? Plus, a preview of the new rugby season, with Edinburgh and Glasgow looking like real contenders in the PRO12.

The Scotsman’s David Ferguson and Graham Lindsay of Scotland on Sunday are in the pod this week to chew over Scotland’s win against Australia at Easter Road. Can we read this as a sign of a squad ready to challenge for World Cup qualification or is it foolish to get carried away by a friendly performance?

The selection (or non-selection) of Rangers players was the main talking point before the match, but will Craig Levein call upon Third Division players like Ian Black as the season progresses?

In Scottish rugby, both Edinburgh and Glasgow have strengthened their squads ahead of the new season. After Edinburgh’s Heineken Cup run and a successful summer tour for the national team, will the feel good factor continue? David gives his analysis.
