Alloa wary of improving Peterhead
The two form sides in the Third Division meet at Recreation Park tonight, with leaders Alloa putting three fine records on the line against a Peterhead side that have won five of their past six league games.
The Wasps, who can move seven points clear of second placed Stranraer, have been unbeaten at home all season, are on a 13-game undefeated run and have won their last five games in a row, with manager Paul Hartley saying: “We are raring to go against Peterhead, although we recognise that we are facing another team high on confidence.”
“They have improved enormously under Jim McInally and are coming here on the back of a really good result against Queen’s Park so we need to keep on applying ourselves.”
Midfielder Ryan McCann is the only absentee for Alloa as he is serving the second of his two-match ban. McInally has told his players that they have come a long way recently but not to stop now just because they are facing the league leaders. He said: “In five weeks we have moved off the bottom of the table and up to seventh place. We recognise that we still have a good bit to go before we are where we should be, but we are getting there.”
They will be at full strength, with defender Scott Ross returning after a ban and looking likely to replace Craig Tully.
