SFA charge Falkirk manager Steven Pressley
FALKIRK manager Steven Pressley has been issued with a notice of complaint by the SFA’s compliance officer following his side’s Scottish Communities League Cup defeat to Celtic.
Pressley was sent to the stand for the second half of the semi-final at Hampden on Sunday after remonstrating with referee Euan Norris towards the end of the first half.
Pressley was unhappy with a penalty decision which resulted in the opener in Celtic’s 3-1 victory. He has been issued with the notice of complaint for breaching disciplinary rules, which relate to comments made about a match official and the use of offensive, insulting or abusive language towards a match official. The hearing is set to take place on Thursday, 23 February.
Meanwhile, Falkirk teenager Jay Fulton insists last weekend’s semi-final heartache against Celtic has only served to whet the Bairns’ appetite for a quick-fire return to Hampden in this season’s Scottish Cup and they hope to move a step closer by beating Ayr today, although the match hinges on an 11am pitch inspection.
Fulton said: “We want another cup run now. We feel confident about going to Ayr and getting a win, and hopefully we can get ourselves back to Hampden.”
