Scougall hails win as Livi bounce back

STEFAN SCOUGALL was delighted to see Livingston bounce back from last week’s defeat and sweep aside Cowdenbeath with a 3-0 win – even if the midfielder felt he should have bagged a couple of goals himself.

Iain Russell, Tony Andreu and Jesus Garcia Tena were on the scoresheet in a dominant first half for Gareth Evans’ side, who banished any lingering thoughts of last week’s loss to Dumbarton.

And despite Scougall 
coming close to adding to the tally, he was pleased to see the team secure their third win in four league games.

He said: “It was obviously a great three points for us. We worked hard and we could have made it easier for ourselves, but I thought in the first half 
especially we played really well.

“We knew it was going to be a hard game before they came here and it was pleasing to get a solid win after the result last week.

“In the second half we felt it was a bit flat but that was maybe due to ourselves. We played well for parts of it and maybe with us being 3-0 up their heads went down a wee bit. But we obviously need to be better in that situation.”

He added: “I should have had a goal in the first half and in the second half the defender’s got back on the line to clear so that was disappointing.”

It could have been so 
different for Cowdenbeath as Scott Linton clipped the post with an early free kick.

But Livi soon took control and after Scougall’s effort was blocked by keeper Thomas Flynn, Liam Fox’s slick pass teed up Russell on 27 minutes, and the striker slotted home.

Twelve minutes later it was two, with another fine counter attack. Andreu and Russell combined to send the latter free down the left, and he squared for Andreu who made a near post run to finish off the move.

And right on half time Livi secured the win. Jordan Morton’s shot was parried by Flynn, and Tena turned in the rebound.

Morton drew a fine save from Flynn in the second period before Scougall ran half the length of the pitch and round the goalkeeper, only to see his shot cleared off the line by Kenny Adamson.
