Still winless following promotion, garnering just two points from eight matches, Alan Adamson’s Dumbarton have shipped 25 goals, prompting casual onlookers to consign them to the drop.

Yet against Raith Rovers the visitors can count themselves incredibly unlucky not to have claimed a maiden league win, turning in a vibrant display in an enthralling encounter.

There was an air of inevitability about the opening goal. It would be a brave man who attends a Rovers match this term and does not scribble the name of Brian Graham on their betting slip as first goalscorer. Scottish football’s most prolific marksman netted his 12th goal of the season midway through the first half, firing a low effort past Jamie Ewings.

With Raith notably listless, Jim Lister broke a ragged offside trap after the break and slotted an excellent low finish past the sprawling dive of David McGurn.

Greig Spence then poked home from close range, against the run of play, to reclaim the lead.

But a deserved equaliser was garnered at the death, with Bryan Prunty playing the super-sub role to perfection, sliding in at the back post to level the scores.
