Raith Rovers 0 - 2 Livingston: Burke thrives at Livi

LIVINGSTON’S reluctance to rush into a managerial appointment is proving wise as interim boss Richie Burke continues to thrive following his ascension to the top job.

Scorers: Russell pen 20; Scougall 35

Ged Nixon, chief executive of the West Lothian outfit, has confirmed there will be no hasty decision made, despite the likes of deposed Hearts manager John McGlynn reportedly being interested in the role. And Burke, a bombastic character, has ensured there has been no hangover from the departure of manager Gareth Evans and director of football John Collins.

After a handsome 4-1 victory over Airdrie United last week, Iain Russell broke the deadlock from the penalty spot at Stark’s Park and Livi secured the win with a deflected Stefan Scougall effort.

“I would love to take all the credit,” smiled Burke. “But I don’t stand on the shoulders of others and it is down to the players. I thought some of the football we played was the best we’ve performed all season.”

Rovers produced a more spirited second-half showing, but the damage was done in a woeful first 45.

“You can’t start the way we did,” said Raith manager Grant Murray. “We gave
ourselves too much of a mountain to climb.”
