Queen of the South 1 - 1 Dundee: Late point for Dundee
MATT Lockwood’s late strike rescued a point for Dundee after the home side had looked to be heading for a precious win, but this draw is at least enough to lift Queens out of the bottom two.
Early on, Queens keeper Lee Robinson was tested by Phil O’Donnell’s fierce 25-yarder which the keeper turned round a post. Then the lively Jamie McCluskey darted in from the right flank and forced a crucial block from Robinson. The Doonhamers responded with a flurry of chances, as Ryan McGuffie’s header soared inches over the bar and Dan Carmichael’s shot was blocked by Neil McGregor, before Sam Parkin ghosted to the near post to meet Nicky Clark’s cross with a neat finish under the diving Douglas.
Dundee thought they had equalised on the restart when Steven Milne bundled the ball in but the whistle had already gone for an infringement.
The hosts almost clinched the points in 72 minutes when John Potter’s header slipped inches wide after another good delivery from Clark.
Instead, Lockwood came to Dundee’s rescue with an unstoppable half-volley in the last minute after a flick on from Jake Hyde.
