No danger of Lions taking Sons lightly

MARC McNULTY insists there’s no danger of Livingston
underestimating Dumbarton tomorrow as the Lions travel to face the in-form team in the First Division.

Ian Murray’s team were sitting on five points and in bottom place in the league only two months ago, but an extraordinary run of five wins in six games has moved them out of the relegation spots.

That form has included
victories over leaders Morton and second-placed Partick Thistle, and McNulty says Livi know just how tough tomorrow’s game will be.

He said: “Gareth Evans (coach) kept telling us all week that if the league was over the last six games Dumbarton would be top of the league – so there’s no way we’ll be underestimating them, it’s a brilliant run they’ve been on.

“The boys would be taking them very seriously anyway even if they didn’t have such great form.”

Livi enjoyed a 1-0 win at Dunfermline last weekend, and the striker is hoping the Lions can take on the momentum from that welcome victory.

He said: “Everyone always gets a big lift when you get a win against a team who are in
with a chance of winning the league.

“However, we’ve always said we can match anyone on our day.

“We’ve given away some cheap goals in some games but credit to the defence who where
different class.

“It’s a different sort of win from what we are used to.”

McNulty’s also keen to get back on track in front of goal, with his last effort coming against Partick Thistle at the start of the New Year.

But the forward says he’s
happy to be playing a different role on some occasions, as long as the Lions pick up the three points.

He added: “Against Dunfermline me and Iain Russell were doing more defending than we are perhaps used to and were playing a slightly different position than we are used to. But as long as we are getting the wins it doesn’t really matter.

“You want to score every week but getting wins is the most important thing. But of course, you hope to be back scoring goals soon.”
