Livingtson 1 - 1 Cowdenbeath: Late leveller for Cowdenbeath rescues point
Substitute Lewis Milne came off the bench to head in a dramatic equaliser for ten-man Cowdenbeath deep into stoppage time after Jamie Stevenson’s free-kick had been touched on to the bar by goalkeeper Andy McNeil.
Yesterday’s clash was the first league meeting between the two sides since Livingston’s first season as Livingston (they were previously Meadowbank Thistle), back in 1995.
After 11 minutes Livingston came close to the opener with a terrific long-range effort from Keaghan Jacobs just off target.
Livingston threatened again in 24 minutes when Iain Russell turned sharply at the edge of the area and forced Cowden goalkeeper Thomas Flynn into a fabulous save.
Cowden were reduced to ten men in 55 minutes when John Armstrong was shown a straight red for a shocking high lunge on Anthony Andreu.
Livingston took advantage of their superior numbers and finally broke the deadlock in 71 minutes when Russell’s first-time volley broke back to Jacobs, who rifled a low 20-yard shot beyond Flynn.
But just as the home side thought they had the game won, Milne stepped up.
