Livingston 3 - 0 Cowdenbeath: Livi wrap up points
Cowdenbeath almost made a sensational start after just four minutes when Scott Linton curled a 20-yard free kick over the Livingston wall, but the ball crashed against the outside of goalkeeper Andy McNeil’s left-hand post.
Scorers: Russell 27; Andreu 39; Garcia Tena 44
The Almondvale side deservedly went in front in 27 minutes with a sublime touch by Liam Fox to Iain Russell who burst in from the right, forced goalkeeper Thomas Flynn wide and netted from an acute angle.
Livi’s second in 39 minutes was nothing short of sensational when Anthony Andreu sent a superb ball down the left flank to Russell and the Frenchman continued his run to take the return pass and clip the ball past Flynn and into the net at the near post.
Livingston wrapped up the points with a third one minute from the break when Jordan Morton turned at the edge of the area. His snap shot was parried by Flynn only for Jesus Garcia Tena to pounce and blast home the rebound.
They might have added a fourth in 54 minutes but for a wonderful save by Flynn to palm out Morton’s 30-yard effort.
And two minutes later Kenny Adamson was on the line to clear from Stefan Scougall.
