Livi ‘gutted’ after injury-time equaliser

LIVINGSTON keeper Andy McNeil pulled off a stunning display of goalkeeping in the final few minutes of the Lions’ match against Cowdenbeath – but he was left gutted as the visitors still snatched an
equaliser in the fourth minute of stoppage time.

Livi had faced dogged resistance from Colin Cameron’s men – reduced to ten men when John Armstrong was sent off on 55 minutes – and finally took the lead with 20 minutes left thanks to Keaghan Jacobs.

But after McNeil three times thwarted Cowden’s Jamie
Stevenson in added time, Lewis Milne eventually forced the ball home for a 1-1 draw.

“We’re pretty gutted,” said McNeil. “I thought we dominated the game for 80 minutes, especially when they went down to ten men.

“But in the last ten minutes we shot ourselves in the foot. We gave the ball away too quickly. We started chasing things down and making bad decisions all over the place and that gave them opportunities.”

The visitors lost Armstrong after a lunge on Tony Andreu on 55 minutes and Livi took control. Jacobs gave the home side the lead when his 20-yard shot flicked a Cowdenbeath leg and nestled into the net on 70 minutes. In 94 minutes Stevenson’s third effort smacked the bar after another McNeil touch, but Milne was on hand to head home.
