Lions looking to get off the Marc with win at Stranraer

MARC McNULTY has hailed the way Livingston’s new
arrivals have fitted in with the
current squad – and he reckons the team spirit that has been
fostered over several seasons will stand the Lions in good stead this campaign.

John Hughes’s men suffered a disappointing loss at Annan
Athletic last Saturday in the Ramsdens Cup first round, but attention now turns to a trip
to Stranraer tomorrow in the Scottish Communites League Cup.

McNulty is delighted with how new faces Jordan Morton, Tony Andreu and David Luongo
have settled in at the club and thinks that the experience
many of the players have
garnered in climbing the lower leagues will help them in
what promises to be a tricky
encounter.

He said: “Jordan, David and Tony have mixed in really well with the boys. We’ve got a good team spirit
in the dressing room, and off the park as well outside football. That helps bring us
together and I think that’ll
 help us throughout the
season.

“We’ve been there together while experiencing the Second and Third Division so, while it’s still going to be a hard game, I think we’ve got a wee insight already into what these sort of games are about.”

The striker is also keen to stress how much the players look forward to the opportunity of a cup run later in the season – and knows the hard work must start now if that opportunity is to
become a reality.

He says the Lions are also
desperate to make amends for their disappointing showing at Annan where the Third
Division side upset the odds
to end Livi’s Ramsdens Cup hopes.

“When it comes to the cup, it gives you the opportunity
as the season goes on to get
a wee break from the league
and some teams need that,” he said. “Annan was frustrating for us. I don’t think we played that great but we had the chances to score and you want to win every game you play in.

“You get the chance to win something else and that is
always good for the boys.

“We’re all looking forward to Stranraer and want to put
things right from the Annan game.”
