Hamilton Academical 1 - 1 Falkirk: Accies come from behind

ACCIES came from behind to grab only their second point of the season but may feel they should have had all three, writes William Dick at New Douglas Park.

Scorers: Hamilton Academical - Routledge 43; Falkirk - Taylor 5

Falkirk survived a couple of early scares before grabbing the lead in just five minutes.

Andy Haworth’s cross may have been intended for Sean Higgins at the near post but it found its way to Lyle Taylor who had sneaked in at the back one to drill a shot low past Kevin Cuthbert.

Falkirk went on to dominate but squandered a series of chances to double their advantage.

Instead Hamilton equalised with a superbly worked goal. Stephen Hendrie started it with a fine long ball that sent Louis Longridge racing down the left flank. The ball was neatly worked across box where Jon Routledge curled a superb shot into the top left-hand corner of Michael McGovern’s net.

Taylor then conjured a contender for miss of the season. Sent clean through by Higgins, he rounded Cuthbert only to shoot into the side-netting.
