First Division honour goes to Pressley
Falkirk’s performance on and off the field in January has been recognised with manager Steven Pressley named as the Irn-Bru Phenomenal First Division Manager of the Month.
The Bairns kept in touch with leaders Ross County and beat East Fife in the Scottish Cup. They also put in a very impressive performance against Celtic in the Scottish Communities League Cup semi-final.
That as well as the £500,000-plus generated by the sales of Murray Wallace and Kallum Higginbotham to Huddersfield Town sealed Pressley’s award.
He said: “It was a very good January both on and off the park. Our young players have advanced their reputations further and this award is great recognition for them. The sale of players was very prosperous for us and it reflects a fundamental part of what Falkirk is about. It was very beneficial to us in terms of bringing money in and it also shows the development that we can give players as well as a providing a platform to allow them to show what they can do.”
