Dundee 2 - 2 Hamilton: Hamilton restore pride
IT WAS one of the freak results of the First Division season so far – Hamilton 1, Dundee 6.
It proved the catalyst for a title challenge for Dark Blues and signalled premature talk of a crisis at Hamilton.
However, unlike most clubs, Hamilton refused to press the panic button and could, or probably should, have exacted their revenge on the home side yesterday.
Dundee may have had plenty of the ball but Accies controlled long spells and were well worth their one-goal lead at half time.
That came courtesy of Dundee error, as Neil McGregor’s short back header played Jon McShane onside and the on-loan striker drilled low beyond Rab Douglas.
Hamilton then missed a series of chances to put the game to bed in the opening 45, with Douglas saving twice from Jim McAlister and from Greig Spence.
Hamilton were dealt the sucker-punch on 53 minutes as Ryan Conroy netted direct from a 25-yard free-kick.
Dundee then looked to have won the game as Steven Milne netted from the penalty spot, following a trip by Lee Kilday on Jamie McCluskey.
But a late counter from Andrew Ryan ensured a share of the spoils.
