Dumbarton 3 - 1 Hamilton: Dumbarton continue recovery

THE exploits of another Murray are grabbing the headlines this weekend, but the remarkable turnaround in Dumbarton’s fortunes since the arrival of Ian Murray is worthy of plaudits as his is a team and club transformed.

When Murray arrived, his new charges were rock bottom, and conceding goals by the fistful. Now they are off the foot of the table, playing with confidence and looking capable of avoiding the relegation issue entirely.

The Sons were up and at it from the start with Jim Lister, Scott Agnew and Alan Lithgow all coming close to making the breakthrough their team’s high tempo warranted.

Accies couldn’t live with Dumbarton, and there was a touch of inevitability about the opener after 34 minutes, Chris Turner coolly nodding home from six yards.

Had they gone in two to the good at the break it would not have flattered Dumbarton, however they were made to wait until ten minutes after the restart to double their lead, Mark Gilhaney slotting home.

Woeful Accies halved the deficit soon after through Stevie May, but the points were secured for in-form Sons inside stoppage time when Hamilton’s Jonathan Page turned into his own net.
