Dumbarton 0 - 3 Morton
ANOTHER week gone and another vital victory for First Division title pacesetters Morton, who continue to rack up the points, tick off the games and keep rivals Partick Thistle playing catch-up as the race hits the home straight.
Scorers: Morton - Tidser 32; Hardie 38; MacDonald 81
At this time of the campaign points count more than performances, and it took a strike straight out of the top drawer from Michael Tidser to set what had been a largely lethargic Morton on their way.
Having finally been jump-started into life, Morton wasted little time in doubling their advantage courtesy of a trademark back post Martin Hardie header as the home defence looked on from afar.
All of this was very harsh on Dumbarton as it had been they who, through the immaculate use of the ball from impressive midfield schemer Scott Agnew, had held sway for much if the opening half an hour.
Indeed the Sons could have halved the deficit seconds before the break had Steven McDougall produced better than shooting against visiting keeper Derek Gaston when he has the time and space to have picked his spot.
The men from Cappielow controlled the second half and Peter MacDonald put some gloss on the scoreline with a headed finish nine minutes from the end.
