Dumbarton 0-2 Falkirk: Slick Bairns beat Dumbarton

FALKIRK’S young guns convincingly put the skids under their hosts recent fine home form with a performance full of polished passing, which could have been far more comprehensive had they taken even half the chances they created against a curiously lifeless Dumbarton.

With both teams having been amongst the goals recently this never had the look of a nil-nil and had the usually reliable duo of Sons’ Brian Prunty and Falkirk’s Lyle Taylor been on their game then both teams could have netted inside ten-minutes.

Despite this early exchange of close-calls, Falkirk looked the more threatening and deservedly hit the front just after the midway point of the first half courtesy of a clinical volley from Thomas Grant.

Well on top and a goal to the good, the visitors wasted little time in doubling their advantage, David Weatherston finding the net with a shot that seemed to go through home keeper, Stephen Grindlay.

Dumbarton had a spell of possession after the restart, but for all the prompting of the excellent Scott Agnew they couldn’t find the breakthrough and quickly ran out of ideas, allowing Falkirk the luxury of more shoddy finishing as they strolled to the win.
