Dumbarton 0 - 2 Falkirk: Dumbarton eased aside
TWO first half strikes were enough for Falkirk to claim the points as they made light work of brushing aside powderpuff Dumbarton for whom this season looks like being one long, all-too-predictable wait for the relegation reaper to come knocking, writes Alan Gallacher at the Bet Butler Stadium.
The plight of the Sons wasn’t helped by being largely culpable in their own demise when they gifted Falkirk’s eye-catching young striker, Lyle Taylor, an opener with little over a quarter of an hour played amongst a catalogue of errors from misplaced passes to a goalkeeper going down far too early.
At this stage it was all too easy for Falkirk as they cut open the hosts at will and it was only a matter of time before they doubled their lead, David Weatherson doing the honours after 32 minutes with a thumping finish to some good Jonathan Flynn approach play.
To their credit Dumbarton battled away, and either side of the break forced Michael McGovern in the visiting goal into some meaningful action as Scott Agnew twice warmed his hands with strikes from the edge of the area.
However, this brief flurry aside Falkirk never looked likely of being in any danger of relinquishing their lead as they dropped gears and cruised to victory.
