Dumbarton 0 - 2 Dunfermline: Pars cruise to victory
DUNFERMLINE stayed in pursuit of the leaders with an easy three points against a hapless Dumbarton who, even this early in the campaign, look a little out of their depth, writes Alan Gallacher at the Bet Butler Stadium.
Scorers: Dunfermline - Kirk 41; Husband 48
The hosts’ Steven McDougall warmed the palms of Paul Gallacher before Andy Kirk shattered their resistance with a goal four minutes from the break.
Dumbarton are still without a point, and it was the same old tale as the concession of a goal visibly knocked the stuffing out of them, with only a fine stop from Stephen Grindlay denying Ryan Wallace soon after.
Three minutes after the restart Josh Falkingham teed up Stephen Husband, who forced the ball past Grindlay at the second time of asking.
With a two-goal advantage against a team with little in the final third, the Pars had the luxury of at times cruising to the points yet only Grindlay spared the Sons further punishment with two fine saves from Wallace.
