Cowdenbeath have belief ahead of Fife derby

After two defeats from Dunfermline and two draws with Raith Rovers this season, Cowdenbeath player/manager Colin Cameron is hoping his side can achieve a Fife first by defeating the East End Park side at Central Park tonight.

The Blue Brazil can climb above Dumbarton and into eighth place in the First Division if they win, and after destroying Falkirk 4-1 on Saturday, Cameron reckons that his men could well now possess the self-belief that has been lacking at key times this season.

Cameron said: “We had been struggling to see games out and had gone over five months without a win but, on Saturday, everything came together. The players I have are honest and hard-working but had been lacking a bit in belief.

“Hopefully they now have the belief in what they can achieve and we can get some more wins on board. This is a massive game for us and, if we can build on the Falkirk performance, we can get another three points.”

Lewis Coult faces a fitness test after picking up a knock against the Bairns, but Craig Moore, Sam Stanton, Liam Cusack and Mark Ramsay are all out with injuries.

The Pars make the short trip to Central Park boosted by Saturday’s 2-1 win at Hamilton Accies and manager Jim Jefferies said: “You have to grind out victories at this stage of the season and our players need the same approach against Cowdenbeath.”
