Arbroath 2 - 2 Airdrie United: Red Lichties miss out after losing two-goal lead

Airdrie as the Diamonds hit back to grab a draw through substitute John Boyle.

The Red Lichties started the game well, and midfielder Keith Gibson was perfectly placed to head home a cross from player/ manager Paul Sheerin to give them the lead after just nine minutes. The second goal came three minutes from the break when Brain Kerr set up Gibson to rifle in a fine drive.

The match turned just after half-time when Airdrie striker Derek Holmes headed in and Holmes played a part in the equaliser that came 12 minutes from time.

The big front man headed into the path of Boyle, who had only been on the park for three minutes, and he sent a right shot past Darren Hill to level.
