MICHAEL Moffat took his tally to 17 goals as Ayr beat East Fife; Airdrieonians closed the gap on Arbroath and Stenhousemuir ‘stole’ victory at Brecnin.
Ayr United 2, East Fife 0
East Fife had the wind at their back in the first half and David Hutton made a fine save to deny Joe Mbu.
But Ayr were awarded a penalty when Anthony Marenghi was fouled and Michael Moffat netted after his initial shot was saved.
Moffat added his second – and 17th of the season – with a cool finish in the second half.
Airdrieonians 2, Arbroath 1
Airdrieonians closed the gap on Arbroath at the bottom.
Arbroath who took the lead in the 25th minute when Bradley Donaldson headed home for his first of the season.
Gregor Buchanan headed an equaliser early in the second half. Keigan Parker then side-footed Airdrie in front after some intense pressure.
Brechin City 0, Stenhousemuir 1
Brechin dominated the first half and Andy Jackson struck the post and also had a “goal” disallowed.
But Stenhousemuir took the lead against the run of play when Bryan Hodge gathered the ball inside the area and scored with a low shot.
Alan Trouten saw a penalty saved by Wallace Smith as Brechin wasted another chance.
