BOSNIA are knocked out of the World Cup as Peter Odemwingie’s goal gives Nigeria their first win.
Scorers: Nigeria; Peter Odemwingie
Peter Odemwingie scored against the run of play to give Nigeria a 1-0 lead over Bosnia-Herzegovina at halftime in Saturday’s World Cup Group F match.
Bosnia striker Edin Dzeko had a goal disallowed for offside before Odemwingie marked his recall to the lineup with a close-range finish in the 29th minute after a powerful run by Emmanuel Emenike down the right.
After starting its first World Cup with a 2-1 loss to Argentina, Bosnia-Herzegovina needed to avoid defeat to stay in contention and enjoyed long spells of possession in humid Cuiaba.
Dzeko’s found the net in the 21st but it was ruled out, despite replays appearing to show he was level with the last defender as he ran onto Zvjezdan Misimovic’s pass.
