ST Johnstone manager Tommy Wright is demanding a return to the goal standard against Dundee United today after his side fired blanks in their last four games.

He said: “We haven’t done as well as we can do in the last few games. We need to start scoring goals again and I’m sure that will come.

“Stevie May and Nigel Hasselbaink are working hard but it’s a team thing, we need players from

midfield and defence to score as well.

“We have the players to do it. Murray Davidson can score goals, David Wotherspoon is a threat so I’m in no doubt it will come.”

The Saints manager insists he wasn’t shocked by United’s 4-1 loss to St Mirren, which brought their impressive winning run to an end. He added: “Nothing surprises me in Scottish football. Everyone can beat anyone on their day. If you get a bit of luck and play well then there’s nobody that much better than anyone else. United got a man sent off so that helped

St Mirren.

“I’ve been impressed by United. They’re exciting to watch and have some very good young players. They beat us 4-0 earlier in the season. I don’t think it was a 4-0 game because we didn’t play badly. But we are still hurting. We’re looking forward to this one. It should be a good derby between two teams who play football the right way.”
