It is believed that a man followed her into the common stair, where he then grabbed her from behind and forced her to the ground and assaulted her. The suspect then ran off into Barclay Terrace whilst the woman contacted police.

Since the assault, officers having been speaking to residents within the common stair and carrying out extensive CCTV enquiries with a view to obtaining a description of the man responsible for this attack.

Detectives are now urging anyone who was in the area at the time who saw something suspicious or can assist with their enquiries in any way to come forward.

The suspect is described as white, 20-25-years-old with a medium build and short dark brown hair. He was wearing a dark leather jacket and light blue baggy jeans.

Detective Constable Barry Murphy said: “While the victim suffered no physical injuries, she was left deeply distressed by this attack and we are keen to hear from anyone who remembers seeing anything suspicious in the Wrights House area of Barclay Terrace in the early hours of Friday morning last week.

“Similarly, anyone who recognises the description of the male, or who has any other information that can help with this investigation is also asked to contact police immediately by calling 101.”
