Second Division: Stenhousemuir 1-0 Arbroath

John Gemmell dented Arbroath’s play-off hopes with the only goal at Ochilview.

Stenhousemuir 1, Arbroath 0

The striker showed he was in the mood when he volleyed over in the opening minute and he opened the scoring on the stroke of half-time with a clinical finish from David Rowson’s pass. Steven Doris and Paul Sheerin both had chances to equalise for Arbroath in the second half but Stenhousemuir held firm.

Stranraer 3, East Fife 1

Darren Gribben marked his return to Stair Park with a fine double.

Gribben gave Stranraer a ninth-minute lead after Grant Gallagher created the opportunity, giving Stranraer fresh hope of beating the drop. He grabbed his second 20 minutes later with a right-foot shot after good work from Sean Winter. Paul Willis pulled a goal back for East Fife but, moments later, Winter made it 3-1.

Queen of the South 0, Alloa Ath 0

Alloa prevented Queen of the South making it eight successive wins with a battling draw.

Kevin Cawley and Ben Gordon both came close, but neither side could make the breakthrough

Queen of the South looked more likely to score in the second half and Nicky Clark headed over before bringing a superb save from Scott Bain with a 20-yard effort.
