Partnership boosts at legal firms Pinsent Masons and Harper Macleod

Global legal firm Pinsent Masons has announced the promotion of 19 individuals to its partnership, including two in Scotland.

Edinburgh-based Ronan Lambe, a specialist in energy, renewables and clean technologies, and energy and property lawyer Rona Kostulin have been promoted from legal directors to partner.

The firm also announced that five senior associates working in Edinburgh and Glasgow across finance and projects and risk advisory services have been promoted to legal director – Scott Duncan, Laura Crilly, Graham Young, Jennifer McCormick and Natalie Colaluca.

Matthew Kay, head of Vario, the firm’s group of professional services, is the third non-lawyer promotion to partner to be made outside of traditional legal services, as the firm continues its transition to becoming a professional services business “with law at the core”.

The promotions span the firm’s multinational network, with individuals being made up across the UK, Europe, Asia and the Middle East. Following this promotion round, the firm’s total number of partners is 459, with female representation across the partnership increasing to 28.5 per cent.

Meanwhile, Scottish law firm Harper Macleod has announced eight new partners as it emerges strongly from a financial year dominated by the pandemic.

The eight new partners are Natalie Dissake (debt and asset recovery), Amy Walsh (business development), Kathleen Martin (private client), Marina Harper (personal injury), Andrew MacKenzie (dispute resolution), Laura McCorquodale (dispute resolution), Craig Ramsay (corporate) and Paul Macdonald (corporate).

The appointments take the firm’s total number of partners to 74, with 43 per cent of those female.

Chairman Lorne Crerar said: “It is always a matter of great satisfaction to see promotions from within the firm and wonderful to watch people who have been with us for much of their career progress through to this stage, with three of them beginning their careers as trainees with the firm.”

Chief executive Martin Darroch added: “At the end of what has been a remarkable year for so many reasons, our belief that people are our most valuable asset is stronger than ever.”
